Not All Poor Residents in Regions Covered by Central Aid

Help
Bali Tribune / AID - Data collection for central government aid often does not cover all poor residents in the area, including aid for underprivileged elderly people.

balitribune.co.id | Negara - To date, the incomplete accuracy of central government aid data remains a concern. For instance, there are still elderly people (lansia) who are reportedly missed and thus do not receive central government aid. Local governments have intervened with budget allocations to meet the basic needs of vulnerable communities.

The incomplete accuracy of central government aid recipient data has meant that some underprivileged citizens, including the elderly (lansia), are not fully covered by central aid programs. Various efforts are being made in the regions to close this gap. Intervention through regional budgets has become a step taken by district governments to continue meeting the basic needs of vulnerable communities not yet covered by central aid. One such measure is aid provided through regional budgets as a social safety net for those in need. This includes underprivileged elderly people (lansia) who have been missed from the central government aid recipient list.

Jembrana Regent (Bupati) I Made Kembang Hartawan stated that assistance from the local government is provided so that people whose conditions genuinely qualify for aid, but who have not yet been registered, can still receive attention and assistance. “The rice aid we are distributing is given to underprivileged elderly people (lansia) who have been missed from central aid recipients. So, sometimes, not all deserving individuals are included. We also help those who have been missed from the district,” he affirmed, accompanied by Vice Regent I Gede Ngurah Patriana Krisna.

According to the Regent (Bupati), this issue is related to updating beneficiary data at the grassroots level, namely in banjar (village community units) and neighborhoods (lingkungan). Data improvement is considered important so that citizens who meet the aid recipient criteria can be included in the Social Protection (Perlinsos) database. Improving the Perlinsos database continues to be encouraged so that government aid distribution can cover communities that indeed meet the recipient criteria. More accurate data is needed to ensure that needy citizens are not overlooked in social assistance programs.

His office once again urged village and sub-district (kelurahan) governments to be more active in surveying and updating community data in their respective areas. Village and sub-district (kelurahan) officials are asked to pay attention to citizens who are not yet included in the beneficiary data. Citizens who believe they are eligible but have been declared ineligible can also lodge an objection so that their data can be corrected and subsequently included in the Perlinsos database.

These efforts are being made to strengthen data collection from the lowest levels, namely in the banjar (village community units) and neighborhoods (lingkungan) within each village and sub-district (kelurahan), while also reducing the number of underprivileged citizens missed from government aid programs. “The hope is that the data will be improved so that no one else is missed. If they are indeed eligible but declared ineligible, then it needs to be challenged. So that they are included in the Perlinsos data,” he concluded.
