balitribune.co.id | Tabanan – The Tabanan Regency Foreigner Supervision Team (Timpora) apprehended four Nigerian nationals suspected of violating immigration regulations in Batuaji Village, Kerambitan District.
During the raid operation, one foreign national (WNA) daringly fled on a motorcycle, while two others were found hiding in a boarding house (kos) bathroom on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The raid began when officers found a Nigerian WNA, identified by the initials VU, attempting to flee upon seeing the arrival of the joint team at a boarding house.
VU tried to avoid inspection by officers by riding a motorcycle away from the location. "Officers then pursued and apprehended the individual for examination," explained Merry Yolanda, Head of the Information Technology, Intelligence, and Immigration Enforcement Sub-section at the Class III Non-TPI (Temporary Immigration Checkpoint) Immigration Office (Kamin) Tabanan, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
During the initial on-site examination, VU could not produce a passport or a valid stay permit in Indonesia. Based on information from the boarding house owner, officers learned about the presence of three other foreign nationals occupying two different rooms. "Officers then proceeded to examine the rooms reported to be occupied by the WNAs," she continued.
The inspection process was difficult as the three WNAs were uncooperative and daringly locked their room doors from the inside. Officers eventually gained entry and inspected all rooms after obtaining approval and assistance from the boarding house owner. "They were identified by the initials OKA, LOA, and CHA, all of Nigerian nationality," the statement read.
Officers found OKA in a second-floor boarding house room. He could not produce his passport or stay permit documents to the officers. Meanwhile, two other WNAs attempted to deceive officers by hiding in enclosed spaces downstairs. "LOA and CHA were found hiding in the bathroom of a first-floor boarding house room," Tabanan Immigration explained.
Out of the four foreign nationals examined at the scene, only one could produce a passport and valid stay permit documents. All four were then escorted to Kamin Tabanan for a more detailed examination regarding their travel documents and activities.
Based on further investigation, the four Nigerian WNAs were proven to have committed immigration violations in accordance with Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 in conjunction with Law Number 63 of 2024.
Immigration authorities imposed an Immigration Administrative Action in the form of deportation. To await the execution of their repatriation to their country of origin, the four Nigerian nationals were transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) for temporary placement.
At the same time, the Head of the Joint Operations Team, Reynald Christian, appreciated the cross-agency synergy involving elements from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (Polri), Prosecutor's Office, and the Tabanan Regency Government (Pemkab) in maintaining regional order. "I hope all agencies integrated into the Tabanan Timpora can always synergize to maintain the security and order of the Tabanan region," Reynald stated.
