Bali Tribune / BUSTLING – Passenger traffic at Ngurah Rai International Airport appeared bustling, with both domestic and international passengers.

balitribune.co.id | Mangupura - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali recorded serving 15.5 million passengers from January to August 2026. This total comprises 10 million international route passengers and 5.5 million domestic route passengers.

Regarding aircraft movements, up to August, the airport recorded 94,000 movements, with details of 52,000 international aircraft movements and 42,000 domestic aircraft movements.

General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, Nugroho Jati, stated that these service figures demonstrate that Bali remains one of the most popular tourist destinations for both domestic and international visitors.

"With approximately 64,000 passenger movements per day, we are committed to continuously providing heartfelt service to all airport users," said Nugroho Jati on Wednesday (30/9/2026).

For the January to August period, Singapore (SIN) was the international route with the highest number of passenger movements, reaching 1.7 million passengers, accounting for 18% of the total international route passengers. Following in subsequent order were Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with 1 million passengers, Perth (PER) with 794,000 passengers, Melbourne (MEL) with 731,000 passengers, and Sydney (SYD) with 574,000 passengers.

As for domestic routes, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Tangerang (CGK) was the destination with the most passenger movements, totaling 2.5 million passengers, or 45% of the total domestic route passengers. Next were Surabaya (SUB) with 865,000 passengers, Labuan Bajo (LBJ) with 383,000 passengers, Lombok Praya (LOP) with 308,000 passengers, and Makassar (UPG) with 296,000 passengers.

According to data from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, a total of 4.7 million international tourists were recorded arriving in Bali via I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport during the January to August 2026 period.

Australian passport holders ranked first with 1.1 million tourists, followed by China with 418,000, India with 363,000, the United Kingdom with 206,000, and South Korea with 203,000 tourists.

"By the end of August, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali served a total of 65 routes, comprising 41 international routes operated by 44 airlines and 24 domestic routes served by 11 airlines. Moving forward, we aim to strengthen air connectivity, through the opening of new routes, the addition of new airlines, and increased flight frequencies, which will certainly provide more options for airport users flying through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport," explained Nugroho Jati.

Along with the high passenger mobility, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali also continues to strengthen its facilities and services readiness to support an increasingly better travel experience.

One such effort is the operation of the latest facility, a Connecting Bridge for International-Domestic Terminal Transfers.

This facility, officially operated on August 17, aims to enhance the efficiency of inter-terminal transfers, both in terms of time and process, thereby further improving service quality for airport users.

"The convenience provided by the operation of this connecting bridge has the potential to strengthen I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali's position as a domestic and international flight hub," he said.

"With an increasingly seamless process, international tourists flying through international routes to Bali can connect to domestic routes in Indonesia more easily and quickly, and vice versa for domestic route passengers transferring at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali to continue to international flights," he added.

With the high number of passengers served, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali continuously maintains operational readiness while steadily improving service quality. This is part of the airport's commitment to supporting Bali's connectivity and facilitating the mobility of tourists and the public, both domestic and international.
